Poll: Who’s Your Pick for Canada’s New Governor General?

Although these things are never scientific, the poll we recently put out there on-line about whether Canada’s next Governor General should be Aboriginal indicates that, as of midnight, June 30, a decent majority (65%) of voters are in favour of the idea. (If you haven’t already, you can still vote.)

Given this level of support for an Indigenous G-G, we thought folks might also want to express an opinion on who should be appointed to the job. Names mentioned so far include (listed alphabetically by first name):

With the new G-G expected sometime during the Queen’s current visit, we’ll soon find out whether the rumours of an Aboriginal appointee are true.

UPDATE: Thanks to comments received via Facebook, we are pleased to add two more names to the list of ‘nominees,’ acclaimed singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie and sitting Senator, The Hon. Sandra M. Lovelace Nicholas.
